By Tania Gough, Principal and Owner of Beauty Academy South East
The expert in anything was a beginner once…
When I was 8 years old, I asked my Mum ‘Mummy, what do you call a lady who puts makeup on people?’ She replied ‘That’s a beautician darling’.
That was when I decided I was going to enter the world of beauty…
After leaving school, I attended college for 3 years and left as a fully qualified hairdresser and beauty therapist.
I then worked in various salons in London, to gain experience, before venturing out on my own. I was a mobile therapist for a few years before opening up my very own hair and beauty salon.
During this time I also attended numerous post-graduate training courses – some good, some bad. It was whilst attending one of these ‘bad’ courses that I decided I’d like to train students to my own high standards.
In early 2016 I received my Award in Education Level 3, which enabled me to teach students subjects that I was qualified in. In October 2016. I opened Beauty Academy South East, a sole purpose beauty and holistic training academy in Sittingbourne, Kent.
I always felt that my college training was outstanding, and it’s always been my passion to pass this knowledge and expertise onto others that are entering the beauty industry.
‘I want every single student to be successful and as passionate about the beauty industry as I am’.
My team and I have now successfully trained over 600 students in numerous treatments and so many of them are now running their own beauty businesses.
Fast forward 5 years and I’m proud to say that I am now a Multi Award Winning Academy, most recently winning the HABA ‘Industry Trainer of the Year 2021’. What more can I ask for?
Thanks Mummy x
